The Life and Times of a Television Extra

I have been spending a few hours over the last couple days making some little films on the computer, which are started because I wanted a little film of my holiday cottage in Whitby.

And then I quite enjoyed the process so just for a laugh I thought I’d knock out a few silly videos.
The first one is just basically about some of the days Pauline and myself spent as television extras. We really enjoyed some of the days, which can be a little slow and boring sometimes when nothing is going on but overall we had some great times that money cannot buy and made some good friends.

My next little film was just about the fact that when I was 13 years old in 1971 I absolutely love the program called The Persuaders starring Roger Moore and Tony Curtis.

Two handsome men millionaire men, jetting about Europe with fast cars and fast women and lots of adventures, I’ve no idea why I like the program really ? At the time I thought that’s the lifestyle for me and then of course you grow up and go to work

Anyway in later years I have had some fun because have managed to interview Tony Curtis about his involvement in the program and this can be heard on You Tube (Tony Curtis talking about The Persuaders} I have also become the web manager for Say Roger Moore. I do not actually get paid for doing this but I’ve had some priceless days when Sir Rogers invited me to various events. Sir Roger became UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador on 9 August 1991 and so apart from the fact I’ve liked him from my childhood, I also actually enjoy the fact that in my small way I’m helping UNICEF hopefully by highlighting his involvement. Sir Roger answer six questions each month which I choose from the fans.

I’ve managed to meet Sir Roger at a few special events and the best one was the Empire film awards 2006 when Sir Roger was giving Tony Curtis a lifetime achievement award. I actually met Tony coming into the event and brought him upstairs and introduced his to Sir Roger and caught the pictures of them meeting, which was quite an achievement for me.

So this is a little compilation of some of my The Persuader special events.

In 2002 I went to a signing of the autobiography of Uri Geller. After the event we got chatting and I was interested in web design along with Mark and we ended up being his web master, which once again brought some fascinating days out at various events and a little money from time to time on projects.

One of the more interesting ones was the fact that we were invited to the retaking of the wedding vows at Uris Jewish wedding were the best man was Michael Jackson. We were very privilege Pauline Mark and myself because we were actually introduced to Michael at the end of the event which was very nice of Uri because many people were clamouring to meet him and the vast majority didn’t get a look in.

We later also invited to an event where the train went from London Paddington station to Exeter football ground where Uri was a director. The strange thing about this was when we arrived at the train station Michael Jackson was being mobbed by the fans and the police could not keep them at bay and Uri myself and a few others ended hoisting Michael on board before it became nasty with the frantic fans.

Anyway this is a little video compilation of some Pauline and their sister Joan and myself there’s involving these particular celebrities. It’s all a bit of fun when you’re Joe Blogs electrician from Bradford
