I was watching the documentary on You Tube which was televised last year about Sir Alan Sugar, now Lord Sugar and I like his matter-of-fact no-nonsense style and obviously it’s worked with him. He seems to have a strong philosophy that nothing is that complicated or big deal and so he just likes to get the people that know their subject and then make sure they produce the results. I think he realises that most things are not that complicated and we are all usually quite good in one particular area.
One of the things I really detested about three years ago was I needed to have my Whitby holiday cottage website www.endeavourcottage.co.uk prominent on search engines quickly and as soon as you start talking to these search engine optimisation companies, I’m afraid to say that a big percentage of them exaggerate and lie about the necessary work to get the results. They also try to blind you with science, and then sign you up for monthly payments for work which isn’t always necessary. It’s not all bad news I have come across a few honest companies and individuals working in this subject.
It’s a strange subject because if you want to be at the top of the search engines for a local search like in my companies case www.adalarms.co.uk “CCTV installer Bradford” because it’s a local search using the term “Bradford” there’s not that many companies in competition and so it’s very easy to be at the top of the search engines locally. But say you was trying to sell golf equipment and you wanted to be at the top of Google for the term “golf club” on “golf equipment” and you want to appear at the top of Google throughout Britain or even other countries in world you are now an enormous amount of competition.
Anyway three years down the line I think I’m quite good at SEO and my websites are doing the business which is obviously what matters to me and I enjoy keeping up with things on the subject. Canvas Art and Wall Art

Right you have given me an idea, I will call you, probably today about it. I like this artcle. I have been saying for a long time about this very subject of seo being an excuse for companies to blind people with science and make it sound more complicated it is, promising instant results and hiding important information the potential client may need to know. It is rife, so choosing the person you are dealing with for your web design and your seo carefully is important. It realy is something that can be costly if people cut corners on, and it will be more so over the coming years.
I have been working on SEO too and have already got The Mulberry Tree up to 3rd for the local search term florists in guiseley. The next step is working on florists in Leeds.
One thing I find is important is being honest and finding out what the client is wanting to get out of SEO also strategies for landing pages and such (for other people – extra pages on your websites that are relevant to what people are searching at the same time as being a click or two away from a sale confirmation page).
For the average Joe on the street they will say “i want to be top of google” and rather than ask questions and look at strategy and keyphrases they will promise they can deliver to get the business. “Yes no problem I can get you top of google everytime someone types in your business name”, is not a lot of use. So it is as simple as what does the client want their business to sell and who to.
